High school at 21st Century Cyber Charter School (21CCCS) offers a flexible, student-centered learning experience designed to support academic growth, personal development, and future readiness. Serving students in grades 9 through 12, our high school program blends rigorous academics with real-world skills, empowering students to take ownership of their education and prepare for college, careers, or other postsecondary paths.

Students engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes core subjects—English, math, science, and social studies—alongside a wide range of electives such as world languages, technology, and career and technical education. Our approach incorporates data-driven instruction, honors-level pathways, and personalized academic support through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Weekly live classes, access to recorded lessons, and flexible scheduling allow students to learn in a way that works best for them.

Beyond academics, 21CCCS prioritizes social-emotional learning, time management, and relationship-building. Each student is supported by a dedicated Academic Advisor and a team of educators committed to their success. With a strong focus on communication, family engagement, and student well-being, we ensure our learners graduate with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need for life beyond high school.

Course Pathways

High school core courses offer four Pathway options: Grade-level, College Prep, Honors, and Advanced Placement. Transfer students will be placed in the honors pathway if they were previously in an honors course; otherwise, they will be placed in either the college prep or grade-level pathway.

  • Grade-Level Pathway For students working on grade-level standards, with additional resources to support learning. This is listed as the course name without a pathway title.
  • College Prep Pathway For students who successfully meet grade-level standards and are capable of handling increasingly challenging work.
  • Honors Pathway For students who can handle more rigorous coursework, including research and analytical projects. It requires strong study skills, responsibility, and maturity. Students in this pathway earn an extra 0.25 GPA points upon successful completion.
  • Advanced Placement Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available for students who are capable of handling college-level work. These courses are taught by 21CCCS faculty, offering personalized instruction. Successful completion of an AP course at 21CCCS results in an additional 0.5 quality points to the GPA. Colleges may grant credit for high scores on AP exams. The enrollment deadline for incoming students is the end of September, and all missed work must be completed within the quarter. It is recommended that students take no more than two AP courses at a time, with additional courses requiring approval from the high

Transferred students will be placed according to their previous academic path.

About the SOAR Academy

21st Century Cyber Charter School’s SOAR Academy is a credit recovery program designed to help high school students get back on track and earn the credits they need to graduate. The SOAR Academy provides flexible, focused support so you can stay motivated, meet your goals, and take control of your future.

What does SOAR look like?

The SOAR Academy offers students a flexible, accelerated path to recover credits and graduate sooner. Through the Accelerate Education Credit Recovery Curriculum, students can retake previously failed courses and potentially earn up to 10 credits per year. Courses are designed to be completed in half the time of traditional classes and are delivered asynchronously to fit students’ schedules. Participants are scheduled for at least two credit recovery courses per quarter, with opportunities to take more if they finish early. Weekly meetings with an Academic Advisor and SOAR Counselor are required, along with signing a SOAR Contract to confirm commitment to the program’s expectations.

Students who demonstrate an ability and desire to complete rigorous college-level coursework may enroll in Advanced Placement courses. Many colleges and universities award college credit to students who achieve a qualifying score on the Advanced Placement exams.

21CCCS faculty teach our AP courses, so students receive the same personalized instruction 21CCCS provides in other courses. Upon successful completion of an Advanced Placement course at 21CCCS, students will receive .5 quality points added to the GPA calculation for that course. The deadline for enrolling in an AP course for incoming students is the end of September. All work missed must be made up within the quarter. It is recommended that only two AP courses be taken at one time due to the rigor of the course. To add one additional course, approval must be obtained by the high school principal.

At 21st Century Cyber Charter School (21CCCS), we believe in preparing students for a global future by offering a diverse selection of foreign language courses. Our online language programs help students build communication skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in speaking, reading, and writing in another language—all within a flexible, supportive virtual environment.

National Honor Society

The 21CCCS chapters of the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are officially affiliated with the national organization. Membership is based on four key criteria: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These standards are set by the national office and adapted for local chapter needs. Students in grades 10-12 are eligible for NHS, while grades 6-9 can join NJHS.

To qualify, students must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Those who meet this requirement are invited to apply, submitting details about their leadership experience and community service. A minimum of ten hours of documented community service is recommended. The Faculty Council reviews applications and selects new members annually.

NCAA Eligibility

Students are responsible for ensuring they meet NCAA eligibility guidelines. They must notify their counselor before their first year of high school or upon transferring to 21st Century Cyber Charter High School to schedule NCAA-approved courses. NCAA-approved courses are asynchronous but have quarter deadlines. Students may be randomly selected for proctored assessments, which can be taken at a school office, local library, or at home with virtual proctoring.

To apply for NCAA eligibility, students should apply after their sophomore year. Anyone considering college athletics should apply. The application process includes registering on the NCAA Eligibility website, requesting transcripts from the counselor, and sending SAT/ACT scores directly to the NCAA (code 9999).

The NCAA Initial Eligibility Center ensures consistent application of eligibility requirements for Division I and II athletics.

Notification for Sports Team Eligibility

Students must meet their home school district’s academic requirements to continue participating in sports, following PIAA eligibility rules. They must pass at least 4 full-credit courses each week during the school year. Failure to meet this requirement results in loss of eligibility, but participation can resume one week after passing the necessary courses. Students should contact their district for specific eligibility rules and request weekly grade updates from counselors@21cccs.org, including the contact information of the recipient at their district.

Dual Enrollment

School Code 24 P.S. § 15-1525(f) allows cyber charter school students to take college courses that count towards high school graduation. Students can enroll in up to two dual enrollment courses per year. Graduating seniors may have flexibility with credit requirements. To participate, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and obtain principal approval at least 10 school days in advance. The school reimburses tuition, fees, books, and labs for successfully completed courses. Reimbursement requests must be submitted within 15 days of course completion. An additional .5 grade points are added to the grade earned in dual enrollment courses.

Careers and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education (CTE) at 21st Century Cyber Charter School (21CCCS) provides students with a comprehensive curriculum that prepares them for both higher education and the workforce. Through collaboration with local CTE programs, students gain technical and academic skills aligned with Pennsylvania’s Academic Standards and national certifications, ensuring success in college, careers, and life.

College Applications & Accompanying Materials

Students must request letters of recommendation, college application reviews, or transcript requests through the School Counseling Department at least 10 school days before the college deadline. To write a detailed recommendation, counselors will ask for additional student information (e.g., extracurriculars, volunteer work). Teachers also need a minimum of 10 school days’ notice for recommendation letters.

Working Papers

Working papers are required for after-school and summer jobs and are issued by the student’s home school district, not 21CCCS. Pennsylvania’s Child Labor Law regulates the hours and conditions for minors. Students with a “C” average or below are advised to prioritize completing courses to move to the next grade instead of working. If students do work, they must adjust their schedule to meet academic requirements.
